Furniture, Fixtures, Keys and Locks | Faculty & Postdocs
Faculty and Postdoc residents must adhere to the following policies to ensure the safety, security, and maintenance of Columbia Residential units.
- Residents may not remove or modify any furniture, fixtures, or appliances provided by Columbia Residential.
- Columbia Residential does not arrange furniture purchases or exchanges. Residents must clear all personal belongings when they move out.
- Altering, changing, or adding locks to the entrance door of a unit or room is strictly prohibited.
- Lock boxes are not permitted.
- For lock-related concerns, residents should contact Columbia Residential for assistance.
- Any damage, whether accidental or intentional, must be reported immediately to the superintendent and Columbia Residential.
- Unreported damage will be considered the joint responsibility of all residents in the unit.

- Residents are required to keep apartment doors locked at all times to maintain safety and protect personal belongings.
- Upon move-out, residents must return keys to either the superintendent or the Express Move-Out box (located in the lobby of 419 West 119th Street).
- Keys left inside the apartment or room will result in a $100 fee, plus the cost of key or cylinder replacement, if applicable.
