Entry into Occupied Apartments | Faculty & Postdocs

Columbia Residential may enter a resident's unit during reasonable hours and with reasonable notice, as well as during emergencies, as authorized by the housing agreement. Entry may occur for the following reasons:

  • To conduct scheduled inspections by Columbia Residential staff
  • To address health, safety, or emergency concerns
  • To verify compliance with the terms of the housing agreement
  • To perform maintenance requested by the resident

Apartments with an active vacancy notice will be inspected to assess building maintenance needs. These inspections help ensure the unit is prepared for future occupancy and that any necessary repairs or updates are addressed promptly.

The University takes special measures to provide a secure living environment for all its residents. In the event of an emergency, advance notice may not be provided before entry.

To verify compliance with the terms of the housing agreement such as floor coverings, and unit cleanliness.
