Certificate of Liability Insurance (COI)

To maintain our buildings and help ensure the safety of our residents, Columbia Residential requires a Certificate of Liability Insurance (COI) for all moves handled by a moving company and for deliveries of large furniture items.

A COI provides proof of insurance coverage and ensures financial protection in the event of any damage during the moving or delivery process. This certificate is issued by the moving company’s insurance provider and outlines the conditions under which coverage applies.

Submission Guidelines

  • The COI must be submitted at least 48 hours before the scheduled move-in, move-out, or furniture delivery date.
  • Submissions should be sent via email to [email protected].
  • The email subject line must follow this format:
    COI: [Resident Street Address and Unit Number] - [Resident’s Name] - [Move-In, Move-Out, or Furniture Delivery]
    Example: COI: 424 West 119th Street #1A - Jane Smith - Furniture Delivery
  • If the moving company or vendor submits the COI, residents should request to be cc'd in the email to ensure they receive a copy for their records.
  • Lionsgate Residents (520 West 112th Street): Specific procedures must be followed as outlined in the Lionsgate Move-In/Move-Out Guidelines.

If a moving company will be completing your move, a Certificate of Liability Insurance (COI) is required and must be sent to Columbia Residential at least 48 hours prior to the move. 

Each COI must be completed individually for the appropriate entity and residents supply the moving company with the following details:

Insurance Coverage Minimums:

General Liability Insurance: Minimum of $1,000,000 for each of the following:

  • General Aggregate
  • Personal & Advertising Injury
  • Each Occurrence
  • Deliveries

Workers' Compensation Insurance: Coverage must also be included.

  • Resident’s Full Name
  • Resident’s Street Address & Unit Number
  • Description of Work
