Lead Paint Safety

Columbia Residential is committed to providing safe and healthy living environments for all residents. Part of that commitment includes complying with New York City regulations related to lead paint safety.

Under Local Law 1 of 2004, New York City landlords are required to identify and remediate lead paint hazards in apartments where children under the age of six reside.

In buildings subject to Local Law 1, landlords must:

  • Determine if any children under six years old live in the building.
  • Conduct annual inspections of these apartments to identify and address potential lead paint hazards.

For more information on Local Law 1 and its requirements, please visit the official resources provided by the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD).

Residents who have questions or concerns about lead paint in their building are encouraged to contact their Superintendent or other building staff for assistance. Columbia Residential remains dedicated to ensuring safe, healthy homes for all members of the community.
