Residents are required to comply with all current and future city, state, and federal laws and regulations, as well as the rules outlined in the housing agreement, any future reasonable policies established by Columbia Residential, and Columbia University Policies. Each resident is responsible for their own conduct, as well as the behavior of their immediate family members and any visiting guests.
Columbia Residential is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and welcoming living environment for all members of the community. Residents are expected to maintain standards of conduct that support the comfort and well-being of themselves and their neighbors.
Prohibited Conduct
Objectionable or disruptive behavior is strictly prohibited, including any actions that:
- Make a unit or building unfit for occupancy.
- Disrupt or interfere with other residents’ ability to peacefully enjoy their units.
- Create dangerous, hazardous, or unsanitary conditions that negatively impact others.
Policy Violations and Consequences
- Violations of this policy may result in loss of housing eligibility.
- Students who fail to comply may also be reported to the appropriate disciplinary office for further action.
